It provide close loop between transmission medium. A ring topology is a circle that has no start and no end because there is no end it is not necessary to have terminators signal travel in one direction from one computer to next with each computer regenerating the signal so that it may travel. Repeaters at each end repeats the signal it uses physical star topology but logically it is a ring. All the nodes are connected in a N/W by using (MSAU) multi station access unit each computer is connected to other computer with last computer connected to the first computer and they retransmit what they receive from previous computer.
If we use utp cable the distance of MSAU (multi station access unit) and computer 45.5 meters.
If we use fibre optic then the distance is 200 meter.
In ring topology we use 33 MSAU (multi station access unit) and the maximum computer is 260.
